Ear candling is a technique of alternative medicine, which consists of placing an empty wax cone on the external auditory canal, with the aim of extracting wax, fungi and microorganisms that accumulate in the ears, paranasal sinuses, nose and throat.
As with many traditional massage techniques, this therapy has been used for over two thousand years by cultures such as Hindu, Tibetan, Chinese, Egyptian, Mayan, Aztec and Inca. In ancient times it was applied by specialized healers, as they believed that cleaning this area would be more sensitive, creative and have more healing power.
Also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy or Hopi ear candling (a name adopted by the Hopi Indians of North America), ear candling is considered part of personal hygiene in many cultures, so its use is taught in some of the top schools of European medicine.
Benefits of Ear Candling
In addition to cleansing and detoxifying the ears, nose, throat and paranasal sinuses. Some of the benefits of this therapy are:
Reduces infections in these areas.

What To Expect During An Ear Candling Session:
You are first instructed to lie on your side with your body in a straight alignment. A gentle massage is applied to the ear. A hollow linen candle is gently inserted into the ear canal and the opposite end is lit. Only the highest quality candle is used, beeswax, and are typically 25 to 30 cm long.
The candle creates a vacuum that draws our built-up earwax. The extracted earwax and fungus will be burned off and the majority will be collected in the bottom part of the candle. After the candle has been extinguished, the therapist will cut open the remnant and show you the contents.
Most people cannot believe what has been collected from the ear canal. If you have a hearing loss, you may feel a little heat during your session. Many people have reported an improvement in their hearing after just one session. The entire process takes 25 to 30 minutes and can be repeated every 48 hours as necessary. Healthy ears can be maintained with 3 to 4 visits a year.
